Preview, download and delete assets
Open conversation and project outputs, export files and distinguish removing an association from deleting an original.
Updated
Find content by conversation, project or knowledge base in the Asset library, then open its preview. Inspect the actual file before deciding whether it is ready for editing or delivery.
Text opens as readable content; images, audio, video and other files use the relevant preview. Support depends on the file type. A preview error does not prove the file is empty; try downloading the original to check it.
Use the file action menu to download the original. Text with a Markdown export option can be exported as Markdown. Text that only exists as a chat message needs to be saved as a note or document for independent management.
If a download URL has expired or cannot be read, refresh the item and try again. Keep the filename and error if it still fails; see Troubleshooting.
Use available asset actions to add material to a knowledge base or change its associations, then check the destination. The same asset can appear in several places through references.
Removing an item from a conversation, project or knowledge collection generally removes that association. Deleting the original in the library affects the asset itself. Read the confirmation for the precise object and scope.
Check uses in other projects before deleting. Archiving a project, removing an association and deleting an asset are separate operations.
Q: Does a failed preview mean the original file is damaged?
**A: ** Not necessarily. The format may be unsupported or the access URL may have expired. Refresh and retry, or download the original and open it in a suitable app. Keep the filename and error if the issue persists.
Q: Does removing an asset from a project delete the original?
**A: ** Removing it usually unlinks that association, while deleting the original affects the asset itself. Read the confirmation scope and check whether other projects reference it.
